Starting pitcher Sonny Gray had given up four runs by the time the Twins’ offense got the chance to hit for the first time Tuesday. But once it did, well, that wasn’t much more fun for the announced crowd of 41,017 fans at Target Field to watch either. An uncharacteristic performance from Gray, who gave up two home runs for the first time since September 2021, and an inability to convert when they had runners on base has led the Twins to the brink of elimination in the American League Division Series. The Twins fell 9-1 in Game 3 of the best-of-five series on Tuesday, putting them in a situation where they must win on Wednesday to keep their season alive.Gray’s trouble began with the very first batter of the game, Jose Altuve, who led off with a single. An error put on another baserunner before Kyle Tucker came through with an RBI hit to give the Astros a lead. But the real damage came one batter later when former MVP José Abreu hit a sweeper that Grau left over the plate into the le...Santos charged with 10 new criminal counts in superseding indictment

Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) was charged with 10 new criminal counts Tuesday over accusations he inflated his campaign finance reports and charged donors’ credit cards without authorization.Santos pleaded not guilty in May to a 13-count indictment, and the new charges bring the total to 23. The charges add new criminal exposure for the embattled lawmaker, who began his first term in January after admitting to embellishing parts of his background while campaigning. Santos is due to appear in court Oct. 27. The additional indictment comes days after Santos’s former campaign treasurer, Nancy Marks, reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to conspiring with the then-candidate to carry out a scheme prosecutors are dubbing the “Party Program,” in which the duo committed fraud on Santos’s campaign finance reports. The scheme was meant to ensure that Santos and his campaign qualified for a “national party committee” program that would provide financial and logis...I-70 improvement project part of Parson's business talks in Japan

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the federal building in Westwood on Tuesday to show their support for Israel after the bloody incursion on Israeli soil by the militant group Hamas over the weekend. The rally comes on the heels of a news conference held today at Los Angeles City Hall where councilmembers and leaders of the Jewish community stood side by side, speaking about the war with phrases like “cold blooded murder” and “ethnic and religious violence” and an “attack on democracy everywhere.” The surprise attack by Hamas by air, land and sea killed hundreds of Israeli citizens and soldiers, prompting Israel’s leaders to declare war and retaliate, bombarding the Palestinian territory of Gaza. The toll stands at some 1,800 dead on both sides, but that number is expected to grow. L.A. is home to the second largest Jewish community in the United States and the largest Israeli population outside of Israel.
